Valpolicella
Spread out over 240 km. in the western part of Veneto Italy, between Verona and Lake Garda, lying against the mountains of Lessina and bordering the river Adige. Valpolicella has a long tradition where the land has been dedicated to the production of wine. In this zone “ Valpolicella Classica “ the production of high quality wines is due to the good hillside position for the sun, to a soil that is primarily calcareous and to a temperate and mild climate.
Valpolicella was created as the mountains descend into the plains and created five valleys which resemble a extended hand with the fingers representing each valley. There are some characteristics that are given to the native vines, that are similar but at the same time very different due to very small micro-climate variations and soil conditions within each valley.

The territorial and climatic variations of Valpolicella are reflected on the palate with the prestigious expression of a globally recognized wine, which is personal, typical, classic and astonishing at the same time thanks to the considerable peculiarities of the territory and of the climate that influence it. Every valley has its own distinct flavour in it’s grapes and it permits the wine maker to rightly tap the environmental characteristics in order to create a wine with personal nuances.
The ancient origin of Valpolicella is Val polis cellae and it means “The valley with many cellars”. In the words “many cellars” we find not only the idea of quantity, but also that of richness in the variations of characteristics.
